Personality:

Aoi comes off as a cheerful and carefree individual. He smiles all the time and speaks rather casually and friendly with everyone. His speech is sometimes very sweet as well, but that’s only the surface. Behind that gentle smile, and friendly nature, Aoi’s actually very unstable. He does not understand human emotions and he is not very aware of what is like to be human. This is because Aoi was not born through a natural cycle, but rather created in a cloning laboratory by Mouri Kouran. He was deemed unfit and lacking human qualities, thus treated no more than trash by Mouri Kouran. He was also unable to produce a flame like the other surviving clone, Renge.

That brings him to his major inferiority complex. Aoi does not know how to express himself well so he internally, he struggles to be useful to Mouri Kouran, so that he would acknowledge him as a human being, but as long as Renge is around, he His mental state is all questionable at times. He can appear very calm, cheerful and collected one moment, and then psychotic the next. His trademark friendly smiles are followed by a twisted grin. He also noted to Yanagi that it was difficult to behave like a normal human student, because he wanted to kill people. He didn’t really waste time to antagonize himself and to manipulate Yanagi to believe that the Hokage were better off without her.

Like Renge, Aoi is very grotesque. He lives and stays at the bottom of SODOM with all the glass overlooking ugly and morbid fishes. He said that it was where he belonged, with the ugly fish and at the bottom of the world. Since his birth, he has been enforced with negativity that he doesn’t understand why he acts out sometimes. Talking with Yanagi later made him slowly recognize his bitter emotions and made him question why he was always like that to begin with. Aoi hates Renge. He will never get over how much he hates her. In his mind she is perfect, because everyone calls her perfect, and he’s trash because he’s inferior to her. He seeks acknowledgement and a normal life, even though he does not behave like that sometimes.

Aoi’s relationship with Hiruko is hard to determine but he does talk to him the most and he likes to morbidly amuse himself with petty comments that will make Hiruko raise a brow at him. Aoi is also good at pretending to be ag girl, often changing the tone and gesture of his voice and body to make people believe that he’s a girl. He is also very perceptive. When he used his Shinryou Shikou Madogu on Rekka and his friends, he already assumed that Mikagami Tokiya was one of the few of the Hokage that was perceptive. Mikagami did suspect things as Aoi predicted. Aoi also does not value his life because he’s determined that he is a tool for Mouri Kouran’s usage. He was there for convenience and Mouri Kouran ruled his life and existence.

One of the few trademark things from Aoi is his insane laughter and his overly excited and happy expressions. IT often throws people off and confuses them. He acts very innocent when he needs to get what he wants and no one can determine if he is lying or not. Despite that, the short time that Aoi spent as a student at Rekka’s school he enjoyed it. His classmates deemed him very easy to get along with and he was popular with the students. Aoi would hold a sad smile on his face when he talked about the brief moment of school. It was that fleeting moment in time when he infiltrated the school that was he able to get a chance at a normal life. Aoi may seem outwardly insane and unstable, but he sometimes proves that he can also be quite human, despite his circumstances.
